Eva Avila: small girl, BIG voice
Author: DJ Nasty Naz // Category: Music, Parties and NightlifeAfter winning Canadian Idol in 2006, Eva Avila hit the road hard, to be on tour and to get to know the fans. She did her thing in her hometown, having her dad and her brotha join her on stage, and totally took the crowd by storm. Having fallen sick – her drummer Shamakah, had to leave the tour for a quick sick break, but the her team, under the guidance of her talented sound engineer – Colin, quickly regained another drummer, which helped them out in the end, and managed to keep up with Eva’s talented stage presence.
Eva had the chance to work with many greats including Chatal Kreviazuk who performed here at the playhouse only a couple of days ago, and ofcourse a legend in the business, especially in the 80’s- Cyndi Lauper. She asked the crowd – do you love Cyndi…the entire playhouse, was filled with screams…and she started to sing “This Kind of Love” – which was just as great sounding, as her performance of it on the CD.
I owe it all to you – the first official single off her album “Somewhere Else”, it definitely has a popy, latin feel to it. I know in her earlier years Eva did a lot of basement performances with her dad, and a lot of it had that Latin feel. So not sure if that single was slightly influenced by him, but it would make sense. Should I fall – one of my personal favourites on the album – the words – there’s a part of me saying take a chance ..tell you everything…I can defiantly relate to that, as a dj myself it’s always hard to tell all in your life to that someone- because of that fear of falling. And I would imagine with a girl this talented and beautiful, it must be hard to fall..especially with her career…..or NOT to fall….especially with her career…
Track # 6 off her album – Weak in the Knees, honestly it’s an amazing song….and I think I should start the rumour…that Eva wrote it because of her favourite Dj…Dj Nasty Naz….haha…maybe not…Shhhhh…let’s pretend that she did..shall we….
As she walked through the crowd, during her performance, the fans were pretty much in a frenzy, as everyone tried to touch her hand…or just get a simple acknowledgemet while she belted those notes out.
After an amazing concert…she did an autograph signing, with a line of what seemed to me like forever, as I stood by her side..and watched her smile to every single fan picture, and listened as she said “Roti”, instead of “Cheeeeeeese” (inside joke with her and I..let’s just say she luvs my cooking) ..she has defintly proven to Fredericton, that she’s totally worth every Idol Vote she got.
Wanna definitely send big shout outs to Ash (her amazing Keyboardist), Colin (her crazy talented sound engineer), Scott (her wicked agent) and ofcourse Eva..for rippin it in Freddy.
Holla atcha Boi
Peace out
